<image:title>Tour Diary 2021</image:title>
<image:caption>RIGHT: Well, I guess it wasn’t really a tour—just 4 days up north. But, I like to call it a “tour” because it was my first taste of bringing my band on the road—adventure with purpose—sharing the magic of my tunes in San Francisco and Big Sur. I took my trusty ol’ polaroid along for the ride to save up some moments for later. So, without further ado…</image:caption>

<image:caption>LEFT: Backstage with Nicole Atkins at Rickshaw Stop in SF. Nicole is such a golden-hearted & powerful spirit. I don’t often get nervous—more so excited and giddy—but I was really feelin’ the overwhelm before this show. Somehow, chatting with Nicole about Nashville & vocal steamers backstage was the main thing that put me at ease. Not to be cheesy or overly dramatic, but it’s almost like the confidence she exudes, being such a seasoned performer, songwriter, vocalist and musician gave me a glimpse of my future self / higher self that will blossom as I become more of a seasoned performer and musician myself. And I am already on my way! But, her steady energy and cool composure made me feel calm & inspired for the future. RIGHT: We began in San Francisco, opening up for the incredible Nicole Atkins at Rickshaw Stop. Here I am in the green room, where I signed my name on the wall amongst the likes of Kurt Vile, my friend Mae Powell (who we played Big Sur with) and apparently Shakira lol (but obviously not really). The sound was so crazy in this venue, when we sound checked and the bass came on I felt it in my bones! I felt pretty amazing about our performance too & we sold some vinyl.</image:caption>

<image:caption>LEFT: Posing in the green room at Rickshaw Stop with beautiful, talented Cecilia James, who plays bass & sings silken harmonies in my band, but who is also an incredible singer & songwriter in her own right! We met playing a songwriter showcase at SoHo in Santa Barbara and that turned out to be such a fruitful connection, as we’ve played many more shows together, and now I get to have her in my band! One of my favorite girl power bad ass moments in our set is when we sing the final harmonies on our “These Boots were Made for Walking” cover—“walk all over…YOU!” RIGHT: My BANDMATES—all caps necessary; so lucky & stoked to have these humans supporting me on my musical journey. Featuring Zach Wallace on guitar & keys, Cecilia James on bass & harmonies, Michael Morales on drums, and we were lucky enough to have our SF friend, Camellia Boutros join us for these couple shows on trumpet, which added so much feeling and energy to the songs. Funny to think this show was truly the 3rd show we’ve ever played (we’ve been rehearsing about 4 months now? About once a week playing my album and a few other songs) and it was opening for such a solid artist. I just had a good feeling about it and decided to reach out, and I’m so glad I did…!</image:caption>

<image:caption>LEFT: The morning after the craziness that was San Francisco, we took off down the winding coast through a thick film of fog & bursting into the sublime honeyed sunlight—towards that pocket of heaven on earth we call Big Sur. Mayya, Mayya—where do I begin? My oldest friend in SF—we met at the Westfield Mall when I was 13 and ran into again seeing “Harold & Maude” alone at the Roxie years later. It was the greatest gifts & honor to share the show with her! We were beyond blessed to play at possibly the most magical venue in the world—Henry Miller Library, which is a charming cabin in the woods, full of beatnik literature & poetry. There’s a big wooden stage set up in the forest clearing out front, so you get to sing with an audience of towering redwoods, pinprick stars, the spirits of legendary beatniks, & of course the beautiful humans who’ve tripped up & down the coast to hear the music. <image:caption>LEFT: Mae Powell bein’ magical in the sunlight, standing outside the diner we all went to for breakfast the day after our Big Sur show! It’s the most beautiful gift to find both a true friend & musical companion in someone! RIGHT: Mae and I amongst our fellow flower friends in Big Sur. I grew up in San Francisco so had known of Mae through my pal Mayya / through the grapevine, but it wasn’t until a mini tour she did through SoCal that we officially hung out. We played a set at my favorite yoga studio for all of about 3 people by candlelight, and I was utterly blown away by the velvety richness, spacious vibrato & honesty of her voice. Pure magic.</image:caption>

<image:caption>LEFT: With my love amongst the redwoods at Henry Miller Library in Big Sur. I wish a love for all like the love we have. RIGHT: Some mysterious photos captured on the black rocks before the silver stormy sea in Big Sur, shrouded in mist. My boyfriend, Geoff took these on our way back. At first we though they didn’t come out enough, but now I love how faded and nostalgic they look. I felt like a biker riding down the coast in my huge torn-up leather jacket I found for $30 at a thrift store in Ojai a while back. The sea there is more like a raging melancholic place to pensively pace through the mist over white sand, nothing like the sun drenched postcard-perfect shores of Santa Barbara, which are more evocative of a Beach Boys hit. Still, I love both.</image:caption>

<image:caption>LEFT: Having too much in the way between you and the divine—God, source, mystery—is like walking on fresh, damp earth with rubber soles. The sole interferes with the soul, under the guise of protection, logic, rationale. It’s a thick layer of ego—of insecurities, worries, rumination and overthinking. Perhaps, at one time or another, in response to actual stimuli—a survival mechanism of immediacy that soon congealed and became habit. Maybe that’s why the saints and sages remove their shoes when they enter the temple to kneel upon the ground in reverence. I want nothing to intervene between my spirit and This Great Aliveness. That’s why I always say that I believe in magic—because I’ve felt and seen and experienced it. It’s not so much a belief as it is a deeper knowing of the power of that divine mystery that envelops us in its warm embrace. Unconditional. Making a note to myself to remove my shoes before entering the temple today. RIGHT: *note* - this pages consists mostly of quotes from other books, all credited below. “Now is the time to know that all that you do is sacred. Now, why not consider a lasting truce between yourself and God…All your ideas of right and wrong were just a child’s training wheels to be laid aside—when you can finally live with veracity and love…What is that sweet voice inside that insights you to fear?…This is the time for you to deeply compute the impossibility that there is anything but Grace. Now is the season to know that everything you do is sacred.” - from The Gift by Hafiz “My holiness envelops everything I see.” - a mantra from The Gift of Change by Marianne Williamson Artist’s Way: Are you destructive of your true nature? Who are you responsible to? Virtue/fear of being selfish as a self-destructive tendency. Being overly nice/helpful/agreeable as a destructive tendency. “The true self is healthy and occasionally anarchistic…knows how to play and say no to others, and yes to self.” What are my needs? What would I do if it weren’t “too selfish”? - notes from The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron</image:caption>

<image:caption>RIGHT UPPER CORNER: Don’t you think it’s funny we’re trying to be “something”—beyond ourselves—when all we need to do is be ourselves and express our creativity? We struggle to obtain something we already have. It comes from source, which is us. - from a message from my friend, Isabel RIGHT LOWER: In the greenhouse at Oz Farm, where someone told me that George Harrison once gifted them a guitar like mine. LEFT: Perfectionism is an illusion! Get Messy! Be real! Be real! Be true to you! Put down the phone! It’s ok to cry. Free yourself! Express! Feel the blood running through your veins! Feel the present moment unfolding! Free to feel. Stop comparing yourself to others. Why would you dishonor your badass self like that? You got to be you in this life for a reason, don’t waste it trying to be someone else!</image:caption>

<image:title>Tour Diary 2022</image:title>
<image:caption>LEFT: Thoughts today…I want to be an ambassador of realness in this world. To be so honest, true and genuine to my soul that it uplifts those around me, even when I’m not in a happy mood in the moment. To be truth. It’s refreshing. It’s interesting how sometimes all it takes is someone confidently showing a different reality, so committed to their soul’s truth—unwaveringly, unapologetically—to understand that there is another way. I want to light my own path. For me, because it’s my truth. But, maybe for others too…Inspire them to light their own unique way. RIGHT: When you walk into the main area in front of the wooden barn at Oz Farm, there’s a sign with the word “abundance” painted on it, and that pretty much sums up the vibe there. Endless produce, giant beets, fields of colorful wildflowers (everything growing exactly where it wants to), apples scattered on the grass like pennies in a fountain. So many apple pies—we took four home, I held the boxes stacked up under my chin. Candy apples too!! And everyone was so friendly and loving. Highlights included the music, of course—performing my own songs, and then seeing the inspiring Aviva le Fey, and my friend Jake Padorr’s band, Flat Sun Society. Haven’t had that much fun dancing in a while, it was a truly freeing energy cultivated by the music and crowd. I also loved exploring the property the next day, wandering into the redwoods, plunging into the cold river, getting stung by nettles, haha. Geoff and I found lots of iridescent abalone shell bits on the beach, and I’m planning to silversmith a necklace with the pieces inlaid. Some way, some how.</image:caption>

<image:title>Tour Diary 2022</image:title>
<image:caption>LEFT: On the way back from Oz Farm, we stopped at a mysterious and magical place called Sea Ranch Chapel, in a tiny town called Sea Ranch of course. The chapel is a small wooden, naturally-shaped structure with a shingled roof and kaleidoscopic colored stained glass windows. Apparently, the structure was built from ideas and sketches, rather than a calculated architectural design plan. It’s very unique, no hard lines or angles—all curves and organic shapes. Very psychedelic-looking. I loved how the plaque said that the architect or artist views art as the intersection between the physical and spiritual worlds, because I definitely feel that myself. When I’m singing, if feels like I’m communing with the universe, some powerful healing energy beyond me. It feels like I’m creating something tangible (yet intangible at the same time) out of the void. Naturally, I had to bring my guitar in and sing some songs. The acoustics were beautiful. RIGHT (cont’d..): My voice was feeling a bit weathered from the journey, but it ultimately added to the rawness and magic of the moment. A very human yet mystical moment, communing with unseen, loving energies under the stained glass-filtered light. QUOTE IN UPPER CORNER OF RIGHT PAGE: “Days like these it’s easy to believe in more than you see / when everything you do, you do it well / you cast your spell on me…” (from my new song “Live Among the Flowers.”) QUOTE ON LOWER CENTER OF RIGHT PAGE: “Sing your song, for you know we won’t be here long” (from my new song, “Over my Head.”” *Yes, I did just quote my songs twice haha, they fit the vibe well*</image:caption>
